To understand the scale of things, Peter used trees as a guide and estimated that this cliff might be 1000 feet high.

Sailing up fjords, the ship brought us to spots where we were nearly completely surrounded by magnificent mountains.

We sailed for entire days and saw no signs of human intrusion on the rugged coastlines or on the soaring mountains.

Another port of call was Juneau, Alaska. Here, from land, we viewed the Mendehall Glacier.
