Our ship hadn't even left port and already nature impressed. Here, near Stanley Park, float planes conduct tourist flights. |
The scenery was immediately impressive after leaving Vancouver's port, and before our ship even reached the open sea. |
Very shortly after our voyage began, signs of civilization faded from a dense city to a few posh homes tucked in the hills. |
In short order, the Queen Elizabeth sailed away from all signs of civilization into intensely beautiful wilderness. |
Wild strips of forest met the sea and rugged mountains rose up in the background as the ship sailed north up the BC coast. |
Often hugging the coast, or sailing up narrow fjords, the ship brought us intimately close to the coastal mountains. |
Glaciers carve their way through mountain passes. Peter believes that this one is the Margerie Glacier in the Tarr Inlet.
