Our hotel, the Fairmont, dates from 1939 and is the heart of a very tony neighborhood in Vancouver's downtown. |
Peter was pleased that the hotel room was on the seventh floor — seven being his favorite number. |
Julie was pleased to ditch her stuff and settle into the large and classic room. |
The view out our window was of a dense city. Suprisingly, Vancouver's architecture was mostly unremarkable. |
The Fairmont was a stone's throw from our first watering hole and burger joint. |
Fortified on burgers and bevies, we set out on foot. Here's Vancouver as seen from a very pedestrian-unfriendly bridge. |
Our first destination was Granville Island, a shopping, food and harbor area which, in truth, was bit touristy for us.
