Sitka, Alaska was our first port of call and our arranged hike took us into the forest filled with cedar and hemlock trees.

Uncharacteristically beautiful weather was with us on the entire trip and helped make the Sitka hike an absolute delight.

Certain views of the Sitka Sound (those without mountains) were not unlike what you'd see on Lake Superior's North Shore.

Our guide on the Sitka hike was a young indigenous woman from Alaska's Tlingit nation. Her bleached hair is not tradtional!

The forest is lush and moss covered. Sitka, in the midst of a temperate rainforest, receives over 90 inches of rain annualy.

It was goregeous, and easy going, on Sitka's hiking trails which included elevated walkways above boggy areas.

Peter stopped to snap this picture which shows the micro beauty of the Sitka hike, which is better know for its macro beauty.
