To access the harbor near Granville Island, ships pass under a lovely old lift bridge, the deck of which is Burrard Street. |
From the sea-level view of Granville Island, Vancouver's skyline is impressive in scale and modernity. |
We needn't have hiked across the pedestrian-unfriendly bridge. Little ferry boats will get us back to Vancouver proper. |
The Burrard Inlet separates North and West Vancouver (shown) from the downtown area. |
We hiked to China Town, via the Gastown neighborhood, and through some rugged patches of the city's east side. |
We also explored the port, scoping out our cruise-departure spot the night before we set sail. |
The Port of Vancouver's main building resembles a ship, with sail-like features somewhat visible in the photo's upper right.
