Sep. 19, 2020 • After cutting ATV trails into Charlie's hunting areas (not photographed), we skipped bikes and drove around instead. Here's the Wolf River near A bridge.

Here are spots on the Wolf River, beyond A bridge, that I'd never seen.

Here are spots on the Wolf River, beyond A bridge, that I'd never seen.

Initially, Charlie and I thought this little place had the coolest boat garage imaginable. Then we realized that the garage was meant for cars and the lake had flooded.

On our drive, we stopped to see Charlie's buddy Phil. On Phil's property I spotted sweet little graves for his deceased dogs, Dinero and Pesos.

The drive between the cottage and Phil's place reveals areas that were pulverized from last year's storm. Truly, the camera has not captured the enormity of the destruction.

Areas of forest are intact right alongside destroyed areas. This makes locals think that a tornado passed through. Others say it was straight line winds. Either way, f-upped...

...yet the cottage survived. Our loss of trees—53 according to Charlie's stump count—seems like a miracle compared to what we saw on our drive today.

About the stumps: They're gone, and the yard has been graded and seeded. Mom and dad would be proud, the kids are taking care of everything.
