From the Kitchen, looking up and to the south —
Speaking of sound, here is a view of the in-wall wiring for new kitchen loudspeakers. Currently, our computer-centric music
system services seven rooms in the house, employing a somewhat-ridiculous twentytwo loudspeakers.
With the new kitchen set-up, those numbers will rise to eight rooms and twentyfour speakers.

Here, the new speakes are layed out in front of crude, but scale-accurate, mock-ups that I used to help determine position.

Another view of the new speakers shows the sexy curvature of the cabinet. The cabinet shape has sonic benefits as well since the curved interior surfaces reduce internal sound reflection that can diminish a speaker's performace.

The speaker's bracket conceals the connecting wire for a very clean look. The bracket can adjust to point the speaker down from high placement such
as above the opening between our kitchen and dining rooms. Behind the woofer is a passive radiator; like another woofer only driven by internal cabinet
pressure not an electrical signal. This greatly increases the speaker's bass output. Val can thump disco while cooking up a storm in her new kitchen.

Peeking into the living room —
Another area being insuated is the basement rim joist (the point where the foundation meets the wood framing).
To do this, we had to move stored bikes...a lot of stored bikes, so the living room temporatily became a garage.

In the living room on the east —
The family bikes by name, from the left: Sir Walter, Seamus, Shirley, The Count and Marcus.

In the living room facing west —
From the right: Adrian, Mr. Natural, Carlo, Rocky and Bridgette.
At the front of the herd
is Sylvia and Val looking on in amusment. When she saw this
temporary arrangement, Val had just one word: "ridiculous."

The basement landing —
Here's a good view of the foam insulation that's being blown into the basement nooks and crannies.

The basement east wall —
Mr. Natural and Adrian have returned from the living room to their usual "hang" in the basement. Behind them is a view
of the rim joist. Now, all exterior basement walls have been sprayed with insulation is this manner.

In the bedroom, invading Stephie's space —
Nuff said.
