One fourth of July, in the late 60s of early 70s, the neighborhood kids staged a parade and marched down Antigo's 5th Avenue, Virgina Street, 6th Avenue and Hudson Street. I can tell you that Cousin Paul Bretl led the parade in his army outfit. Brother Charlie (without hat) and cousin Joe carried the flags. Towheaded Gelhausen boys pulled a wagon carrying a big bass drum and provided the beat for the parade. In my floppy hat and beads, I carried and played my small drum. A bunch of boy scouts, probably, Blazek and Bradley boys, played cymbals and flutes. Joe Bradley in the number 8 jersey stuffed with a basketball wore the craziest hat, aside from the unkown person in the yellow bonnet. Other kids are likely additional Blazeks and Neufelds.
