Mama Rings The Bell

Mama rings the bell signaling it's time for dinner
Daddy brings the bible to the table for discussion
And I don't know half the things my big brother knows

My baby sister gets unstill at the table
Her little mouth runs miles a minute when it's able
And I want know what will she look like when she's grown

And tonight my momma holds me in her arms
My big brother is in the bed right next to mine
She reads us stories from mother goose's fables
She knows I love her and the way her fingers turn the pages

Mama where have my good years gone?

And tonight my daddy's working by the fire
I listen closely to his typewriter fly
He's working hard saving many souls
He knows I love him and the way he preaches Sunday mornings

Now my momma's 50, just as beautiful as ever
I pray to God I find half the woman she is
And I want to know where did all my good years go
Mama where have my good years gone?

I remember when she'd hold me in her arms
My big brother was in the bed right next to mine
She'd read us stories from mother goose's fables
She knew I loved her and the way her fingers turn the pages

Mama where have my good years gone?
Mama where have my good years gone?
