lyndale pre rehab 2013

Here's the view coming down the stairs from the kitchen, facing south, with a glimpse of most of the bikes.

From the basement stereo room facing east, all the bikes are visible.

Meet the family: From the far north wall facing south, the foreground bike, named Bridget, is Val's winter beater.

Next to Bridget is Rocky, my winter beater & foul-weather commuter. Both Bridget and Rocky are fat, knobby-tired, single-speeds with coaster breaks.

Next, continuing south, is Carlos, Val's summer city bike.

And next to Carlos is Mr. Natural, my summer city bike & fair-weather commuter. Both of these bikes are skinny-tired, light, zippy, single-speeds; again with coaster breaks. We love our coasters!

Further south is the Count, Val's old faithful ride named for Count Basie. The Count has served as Val's commuter, hard working
errand bike, camping bike and all-around city bike. The Count now sports a trainer tire on the back and spends his time mostly indoors.

Next to the Count is Shirly, my much loved Surly Cross Check. Built up with front and back racks,
fenders and bottle cages, Shirly is for touring, commuting and errands. Along with the Count, Shirly spends her winters on a trainer.

At the far south wall is Seamus, Val's new ride and the newest member of the family. Built from the frame up specifically
for Val, Seamus, a Handsome Devil, will soon feature racks and fenders and will be Shirly's touring buddy.

For room scale, here's the view to the south east. Stacked under Seamus, on the table shelf, are two rollers. On the floor, under Shirly and the
Count are two trainers. The low center table rolls easily out of the way and, with the rollers and trainers, four people can ride bikes simultaneously.

Also for room scale, here is the view facing south west (pardon the sunlight). Shown here is Sylvia, my slow-roll pimp bike.

Check out Sylvia. She's the least practical, most fun ride of the bunch. And what a head turner! Doesn't she look like a pin-up girl?

Beyond Sylvia is the basement stereo room.Though this is a modest rig, it plays LPs, CDs, broadcast radio, music streamed
by computer and even cassettes! As a result, our basement rides are not only calorie burners, but a good chance to listen to music.
